“These things are created without preconceived outcome. This opens up an exciting dialogue for new, constant movement of dynamic imagery. An evolution occurs from combining all inspirations of imagery, movement to music, processing dichotomies, the definite and indefinite, harnessed and unharnessed, continual certainty and uncertainty, painting without judgment or expectation that cages authentic expression.
As the spirit of my abstract paintings reveal themselves to me I feel as if I am skating over the canvas to music using long compassionate strokes. Growing up as a competitive ice skater I savored the feeling of interpreting inspiring music while gliding, jumping, and spinning on ice.A connecting force grew from the immersion of beautiful graceful movements, lines, and designs in the shiny cold surface. There was a relationship. Off the ice I am compelled to intertwine lines weaving in and out of windows revealing multiple patterns. The surface of much of my work is comprised of several layers of imagery. The ground preparation is intuitively and aggressively thrown on the canvas with various sizes of brush strokes, simultaneously grinding of charcoal, pastels, graphite or oil stick combining painting and writing. This achieves the visual effects of highlighted textures with darks and lights playing off random backgrounds of patterns allowing the exploration into sensual joy of the image while allowing promising accidents into unplanned but chosen harmonies. In this complex layering, it is unknown how many patterns will be laid down as one move initiates another. The power of this improvisation yields a stating and restating that evolves into the coming and going of imagery each a new perceptual result. As several consecutive layers are in progress various shapes may be separated and united by lines both appearing and disappearing simultaneously as if existing in a parallel universe one we can touch and perhaps one we can only sense. In painting realistic images my sense is to create a clarification or re-clarification of significant aspects that are definable images. I believe the outstanding qualities translate to reality. My need is to understand the repurpose and what ingredients I have to use to translate into something tangible. These ingredients are not planned or contrived they just are."

From a very young age, Christine had the inspiration and ability to draw and paint. She was immersed in and inspired by the beauty and elegance of ice skating combined with moving to music. Coming from a background of Artists and Scientists she processes both worlds through the desired media of oil, graphite, acrylic, pastel, charcoal and photographs. Emphasis is usually on facial expressions and anatomy, or in large abstracts with layers of color and patterns.
Christine has won several awards, exhibited and “Featured Artist” in numerous shows including Sothebey’s International, Artfarm, INOVA, Neman Marcus, Tyson’s II, Walter Reed Medical Center. She has participated in events benefiting breast cancer efforts, and Lymphoma Leukemia Society. In addition to producing her work, she has been published several times and invited to be on the cover of “Navy Medicine Magazine” with her series “Faces of the OR”. She has also been published in the “Journal of Trauma”. Ms. Laubach maintains her license as a Registered Nurse, BSN. With many years of Trauma Operating Room and Plastic / Craniofacial Reconstructive surgery experience behind her, she now works with a varied client population pulling from knowledge in both backgrounds of art and medical aesthetics helping to achieve client’s goals. She received her training in Fine Art at the University of Maryland and her BSN degree at The Catholic University of America.
